Well, the last time I posted it was New Year’s and we were 3 days from ending our cruise. We spent New Year’s Eve on the ship drinking champagne with our trivia team, Peter and Irma.
We spent New Year’s Day with our friends Christy and Miguel in Ensenada, Mexico! It was the best day of our cruise. We just love them so much and we’re so happy to be able to connect with them. We went to lunch at Sabina’s; the place where Anthony Boirdain sang the praises of their fish tacos. We then spent some time on Miguel and Christy’s boat…a drink at the hotel at the Marina and our time was up. We were sad to leave them but hope to see them in Vermillion this summer.
Roscoe said his second best day was seeing his old friend, Steve Craibel, in San Francisco. People are way more important than places!
Next up is my short girlfriends’ cruise in late February. Then on to Africa on March 2nd. Our African cruise will last until May 17th.
I’m thinking about flying to Ohio one more time before we leave for our African cruise. I miss Branden and his family and it will be a long time before we see them again.
The cruise was enjoyable, but not the best we’ve had. The weather was cold…I expected sunny days and sunning around the pool. That only happened on one day! We did enjoy the Bishop Museum in Honolulu and had lunch at a restaurant recommended by our friend Ron, who had lived there. I think the place was Pier 38. It was a feature on Dives Diners and Drive-ins! Do I have that right?
We’ve taken cruises for at least the last 5, possibly more Christmases. Roscoe says maybe next year we will bite the cold bullet and spend the holiday in Mississippi and Ohio. We just might do that. Not sure yet. We’re getting older, we have great grandkids now and we love Branden and his family. So maybe!
We will be gone all of March, April and most of May. We leave in September for a river cruise on the Nile and a Norway/ transatlantic cruise from Rotterdam. So another 6 weeks gone! I hope to see all of the family during the summer.
Today is Saturday, I’ve unpacked both suitcases. I’m working on the laundry. I’m cooking bean soup with a bone left from the honey baked ham we had. Football will be on the TV @ 4:30. GO BROWNS! We will relax and start the new year early!
Thank you all who read my blog and look for an update in February!
