CHEF’s TABLE

Last night we joined 10 other passengers for a 9 course dinner at the chef’s table. All of the ships have them but we had never done it. Our friends Gary and Liz, invited us and we agreed to do it. While I would probably not pay to do it again, it was a wonderful experience. I’m just going to show you pictures and describe our evening.

The chef, and our host, Hermionin

I only ate one piece. Tuna encrusted with toasted sesame seeds, avocado and ginger.

Raspberry Sorbet with mango slaw on the bottom, laced with grey goose vodka.
Everything other than the glass was edible

Lamb chops, filet and vegetables. The main course.

I could only eat one bite of lamb and one bite of beef. I tried to pace myself, but it was still too much.

Dessert, a chocolate bombe and raspberries. Again, everything on the plate was edible.

These were our ‘for later’ desserts. I combined the 2 plates. While walking past the desk, after our 3.5 hour experience, the girls were oohing and ahhing. Without asking Roscoe, I gave them the desserts. Now I have to find him macaroons in Quebec this week.
It was quite an experience. The food was wonderful, but Roscoe and I could have shared one meal. We had champagne, white wine, a wonderful Australian red and a dessert wine. We paced ourselves with that too. We only had one glass each….but we could have had wine the entire evening. It never stopped flowing.

A delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia. I don’t know if I would do it again, the cost was about $80 each. But it was fun and the experience was enlightening.
