We got to our hotel, the Corinthia, in downtown Budapest, Monday night around 6:30pm. We had been flying (and sitting in airports) for over 26 hours. We were beat. Viking took good care of us. Some lady tried walking off with a piece of our luggage. Thank God, I caught her. It seems her luggage looks exactly like ours…she bought hers from Costco 15 years ago too! I don’t know if it was mine or Roscoe’s but one of us would have been very bummed to unzip the bag and find it wasn’t ours! She was on a Viking cruise going north to Amsterdam….we’re going south to Bucharest. Viking had a private mercedes van pick us up. After a quick refreshing, we walked to a nice little restaurant and had chicken paprikas and goulash. We were conked out by 10:00pm.
Today we were up at 7 and went to Starbucks for a breakfast cinnamon roll and coffee. We caught the Viking tour and spent 3 hours seeing sights. We had a nice lunch sitting outside…did I say it was sunny and 60 degrees here today. Then we went to St. Stephen’s church. Tonight we will walk to dinner and possibly see a concert at the Listz school. Or we may come back to our room and succumb to jet lag! People are very friendly here. Being October and off season, the sites aren’t crowded and it’s been quite enjoyable.

I’m eating goulash it’s a vegetable beef soup.

The Chain bridge built in 1849. The first bridge in Budapest to span the Danube.

A view of the city from the top of St. Stephen’s church. Budapest is actually two cities. The hilly side is Buda and the flat, populated side, is Pest. 1/4 of Hungary’s population hitch is 7 million people, lives in Budapest.

St. Mathias Catholic Church. We were privy to an organ concert.
