As we were sailing to Nanortalik, pronounced, nan NOR ta lik, Greenland, the captain decided to deviate from the route and took us into a fiord. It was called Christiansund or Christian Sound. The scenery was spectacular and we spent 5 hours traveling at less than 5 knots, looking at glaciers, icebergs and waterfalls.
We did not see any wildlife except for 3 kayakers. We were very surprised and then came upon a village that has 75 residents. What a rugged country this is. The terrain was mountainous and sheer rock. Stunningly beautiful

Glaciers everywhere!

Kayakers…kayak is an Inuit word, as is canoe.

The little village. I don’t know the name. 75 people live there. I’m not sure if they spend the winter here or not!

Global warming. The glacier has lost much of its ice.

Bet the residents have a healthy diet of fish. Like you said, stunningly beautiful.
