We docked in Dubai yesterday and overnighted. We then had all day here. Roscoe and I are in the terminal downloading pictures from the weekend. We have one device each on the boat but Roscoe takes pictures with his phone, so they don’t synch to the iPad unless we have WiFi. So here we are, spending our last hour in Dubai, downloading pics. We’ve had a busy, exhausting 2 days. We have 6 sea days following today and we will need them.

We docked yesterday and went through immigration. We then decided to go to the mall of the Emirates. We then decided to use the metro. How hard can that be? Well…..it would have worked fine, however, Dubai wants its taxi drivers to get paid, so there’s no access from the dock to the metro. We had to hire a taxi to take us to the metro. The minimum cost of the taxi is $12 US dollars. So the drive to the metro was $20. We then paid $8 each for an all day ticket to the metro. We went to the mall and watched people snow ski! Yep, this is the mall that has the ski slope. Outside, it was 105 degrees….you read that right! 105!

We got back to the ship in time for a short nap and then we did a really touristy thing….we booked a 4 wheel drive trip to the desert that featured a fire dancer, a whirling dervish, a belly dancer, camel rides and a BBQ. I was kind of embarrassed at doing such an obvious tourist trip….but it was really fun. We had a great time and saw a beautiful sunset in the desert. We didn’t get back to the ship until late and we were done in! I’ll post more soon!

An Ibex. The white ones are males. We saw lots of them in the reserve.

we rode a camel. I will post a picture later.

Beautiful sunset.

I ended up removing my shoes And walking in the sand.
